First things first. While it is a global phenomenon that is rarely ever witnessed on the earth, remember to exercise precaution. Parts around the world will see the ‘Ring of Fire’ Solar Eclipse today but remember, let’s not try to look at it directly. Science has taught us that this could lead to one going blind, so use a pin-hole technique or welder’s glasses to look at it.
21st June marks the ‘Ring of Fire’ solar eclipse or the annular solar eclipse, which will be visible from various parts of the world. The eclipse is also coinciding with the summer solstice, which is the first day of summer. Thus, June 21 will also be the longest day of the year 2020. In India, the phenomenon was first spotted in Gharsana in Rajasthan, at 10:12am this morning.
As per a PR release from the Planetary Society, India, the eclipse will be visible between 9:56am and 2:29pm in India, mostly visible to people from Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand. Other parts of the country will be able to have partial glimpses of the same. Around the world, it will be visible in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, Indian Ocean, and parts of Europe and Australia.

The solar eclipse will be around for around 6 hours today morning, varying on where you reside. It is said that the best time to view it would be at 12:05pm. In other parts of the world, it was more visible than in India. For example, United Arab Emirates woke up to partial darkness this morning:

Other parts of India also got a good view at the eclipse especially Gandhinagar in Gujarat. For us here in Mumbai, there’s still not much to see while the national capital New Delhi also witnessed the Ring of Fire eclipse.
