For years, we’ve been used to listening to music composed by the iconic ‘Sajid-Wajid’ duo but today, we’ve woken up to sad news of one half of this group passing away. Earlier this morning, we got reports of composer Wajid Khan passing away at the age of 42 years due to complications after a kidney infection.
Monday morning came with terrible news for his fans and for the Bollywood industry as such a talented person was taken away by God, not for the first time in the last couple of months. However, let’s respect this day and not fall prey to conclusions and rumours as many people say he has passed away due to COVID-19. It may be true but wasn’t confirmed in the initial statement.
Music composer Salim Merchant said, “He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection… He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical.”
Since then, a number of known members of the Bollywood industry left their condolences on Monday morning including Varun Dhawan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Arbaaz Khan, Vishal Dadlani, Adnan Sami, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam and many others. Wajid had been extremely active and his latest track released just last week – Salman Khan’s lockdown song ‘Bhai Bhai’.
In fact, he’s composed several tracks for Salman over the years but alas, we won’t be hearing new songs from him anymore. Here are some of the tweets pouring in from the industry:
I’m shocked!! I’ve lost a dear brother Wajid! I can’t come to grips with this tragic news… He was such a beautiful soul..
Oh dear Lord, Please have mercy…🙏
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعون
May Allah SWT bless him in Jannat-ul-Firdaus…Ameen. 🤲
