Tribhanga Review: Kajol Dazzles All The Way

On 15th January 2021, Tribhanga: Tedhi, Medhi, Crazy found its way on to Netflix in India. It didn’t even take 24 hours to become the Netflix #1 trending watch across the country. An immediate look at the cast and the non-attractive poster, not many would’ve wanted to watch this film but those who did, we’re sure you were satisfied at the end of the 1 hour 35 minute film.

The heroine of the movie was Kajol, now 46 years old but someone who could’ve very easily passed for a 30-year old on screen. Looking elegant as ever, Kajol was presented in a way no one else has seen her before, playing the modern mother who talks about boyfriends and sex openly and doesn’t bother to keep her abusive language in control either.

Tribhanga Review: Kajol Dazzles All The Way

Don’t be surprised if you hear the words ‘Chutiya’, ‘Jhaatu’ or ‘Fuck’ right through the movie. It’s a part of Kajol’s role in the movie, which portrays three generations of women and their unique lives and relationships. It speaks about others and daughters and the unknown emotional troubles that come with these relationships. It shows us how each relationship is treated, and how bad wounds are treated.

Written and directed by Renuka Shahane, the movie has got a 6.7/10 rating on IMDb and it’s definitely something we recommend watching on Netflix India. The story depicts the life of Nayantara who is an acclaimed writer and it shows how her work and career led to a strained relationship with her daughter Anuradha (Kajol). They show their struggles and aspirations, while adding in Masha as well – Kajol’s daughter in the film.

After a life of hating her mother, Anuradha finally realises that it’s time to make amends but unfortunately, she can’t. Kajol is an absolute riot in the movie, playing this new and bold role. However, the actors weren’t able to pull off the more serious parts of the film. Also, produced by Ajay Devgn FFilms, the movie deserved a better ending. After a fun ride, the end is abrupt and well, very predictable. The last 10 minutes may have even put you to sleep!

However, this isn’t a movie you want to miss as it provides you the best of entertainment at least during the first 45 minutes to an hour. Filmmakers will also have to learn to put a cap on the abusive language, as it needs to be pulled off well enough too, like how Shahid Kapoor did in Kabir Singh! Regardless, we would rate this a 7/10 and recommend you to watch it as well!
