They say the best ones always get taken away first. 53 years is not the age to be taken away but sadly, actor Irrfan Khan’s journey on this earth has come to an end today. Probably one of the most talented actors in the country and the first to make a name for himself in big screen Hollywood movies, Khan recently lost a 2-year battle against a neuroendocrine tumour.
It was in 2018 that Khan first shared news of him being diagnosed with the tumour and just yesterday, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, being under observation for a colon infection after having breating difficulties. Less than an hour ago, it was filmmaker Shoojit Shircar who shared the news of Irrfan Khan’s death, on Twitter:
My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute.

The acclaimed actor first made it big in Hollywood, after which he decided to do Indian movies as well, including blockbusters like Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, as well as roles in Jurassic World, and The Amazing Spider-Man. It was only last weekend that the actor’s mother, Saeeda Begum passed away at the age of 95, and it was reprted that he attended the funeral via video call.
Also known as just Irrfan, he had previously undergone treatment abroad for several months last year, working on just one acting project at the time, Angrezi Medium directed by Homi Adajania, havig also done ‘Hindi Medium’ in the past. Reports also sugest that because of the coronavirus lockdown situation, Khan was unable to get his treatments done on time and as frequently as required.
