The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) has done well to unearth some of the best women’s cricketing talent across Australia and other parts of the world as well. While they didn’t have big international stars from other nations early on, they’re now a regular part of the WBBL tournament season on season in Australia.
We often cover some of the biggest records and milestones in the cricketing world and on this page, we’re going to look at the most impressive bowling spells in WBBL history. In particular, we’ve created a complete WBBL 5-wicket hauls list which includes every instance a bowler has taken 5 wickets in a spell in this competition’s history, which team they represented, their bowling figures, and more.
The first ever WBBL 5-fer was taken by Australia’s Molly Strano and we’re not surprised because she was also the leading WBBL wicket-taker for many years, before being overtaken by Jess Jonassen. Playing for Melbourne Renegades Women, Strano picked up magical figures of 5/15 in the very first season of this tournament, WBBL 2015/16.

Incidentally, Wellington has not one but two entries in the WBBL 5-fers list, and on both occasions, she ended with the exact same figures of 5/8. She played for Adelaide Strikers W on both occasions and that makes Strikers have the most number of WBBL 5-wicket hauls – four.
Something about the @ScorchersBBL and defending low totals at the WACA..
Two games this season, two opponents bowled out for 109 & 114.
Incredible win built off Beth Mooney’s lone hand with the bat (77) and superbly backed up by Alana King’s 5fa 👑⭐️#WBBL10
